There
are two types of Tulasi, the black and the white.
The black tulasi is known as the Krishna
Tulasi and the White tulasi as the Rama
Tulasi. |

Tulasi, decreases Vata and Kapha and increases Pitta
and it is acted in plasma, blood, marrow and nerves,
reproductive and respiratory, nervous and digestive
Systems.
It is benefited in ailments like
colds, cough, sinus congestion, headaches, arthritis,
rheumatism, abdominal distention, flu and reduces fat,
strengthens the heart, prevent nausea, cancer, leukaemia,
removes toxins, increases semen, promotes tranquility,
depression etc.

How
ever it is not advisable NOT to take Tulasi if you have
high pitta.
Holy Basil or Tulsi is the most
sacred plant in India. It is still grown in backyards
and courtyards throughout India and worshipped as a
daily ritual for the family well-being. The plant has
mosquito repellant action.
Its quality is pure Sattva.
Holy Basil opens the heart and mind, bestowing the energy
of love and devotion. The plant should be kept in every
house for its purifying influence. Holy Basil absorbs
negative ions, and liberates ozone from the suns rays.

Traditional Ayurvedic treatment for
common cold, cough, bronchspasm, bronchitis, general
stress syndrome, skin infections, indigestion, nausea,
sinus infection, tuberculosis, ringworm, ear infections.
Considered a sacred plant in India, Holy Basil is an
effective diaphoretic in most colds, flue and lung problems.
It removes excess kapha from the lungs, and nasal passage,
increasing prana and sensory acuity. It also removes
high vata from the colon, improves absorption and strengthen
the nerve tissue and increases memory.
Tulasi
is beneficial for various ailments. The leaves dried
may be crushed to a fine powder, or the juice can also
be taken. The leaves can be dried under a shade.
Since
the leaves are slightly bitter and difficult to drink
as it is it may be taken mix with the honey or curd
- but never with milk.
It should be taken empty stomach in the morning followed
by breakfast after 20 minutes - normally it is taken
once but it may be taken two or three times in acute
conditions. |
